Time For the Turning???

Posted: September 28, 2018 in World On The Edge

For quite some time this country has needed a turn back to the values upon which it was founded. Is this the time?

On Thursday a good man courageously stood up to defend his name, his honor, his family, from despicable lies proffered by some power-hungry politicians and their followers.  But is today a time to castaway that dishonest, power-hungry attitude and remove the face of hypocrisy?

Today, a vote for Judge Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court Justice could be the sign of America’s appointed time to rise after decades of condoning behaviors that have weakened us as a nation, and as the human beings we were created to be.

Pray for those who vote, that they may let go of themselves and think of America and her people instead.

There is an appointed time for everything,
and a time for every thing under the heavens.
A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to tear down, and a time to build.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them;
a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away.
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace.What advantage has the worker from his toil?
I have considered the task that God has appointed
for the sons of men to be busied about.
He has made everything appropriate to its time,
and has put the timeless into their hearts,
without man’s ever discovering,
from beginning to end, the work which God has done. — Eccl 3:1-11

    I had only said to my better half yesterday, “How much more can one person take before he stands up and says – just vote, why don’t you?”!!!! Then I came home from a great Yankee/Tampa Bay Rays game to see him standing up for himself on TV – I was thrilled!!
    Congress turned into a joke and proceeded to do the same to this country.
    GREAT POST, Katie!!

    You know, I tend to see it from the other side. I saw a courageous woman standing up for herself. She was not staging an ambush. This was her story to her therapist and her husband six years ago. This was her story in July when she wrote the letter. This was a woman who had nothing to gain except a chance for justice. That chance was paid for in threats, scorn, humiliation, and intense emotions. I won’t defend Senator Feinstein holding the letter for so long. It could have been handled much better. Nevertheless, the hearing was never designed to get to the truth. No witnesses, no further FBI investigation, five minutes each for questions. I don’t know the truth but neither does anyone at that hearing except the two people involved. Blame the Democrats for botching the handling of her claims but equally blame the other side for “plowing” over any chance to get to the truth.

      Walt, thank you for responding! I believe she was “used” by the Democrats. They talk about women’s rights, yet they misled Mrs. Ford. Not only did they hold the letter, but according to her own testimony, her lawyers did not inform her that the Judiciary Committee offered to ‘go to her,’ wherever she wanted, so that she could say what she wanted to say more privately. I suppose they did not want ‘privacy’ for her, though she said she wanted that for herself. However, the Democrats wanted–and received– a very public show, where they would have the opportunity to use her seemingly fragile nature to their own advantage I a very vicious way. I see them as nothing more than wolves in sheep’s clothing.

  4. Kaye. Thanks for speaking up. As a lawyer, I find it very disturbing that we are “trying and convicting” people on evidence that would never hold up in court. These are disturbing times. I pray for a return to fairness and common sense.

    Arthur, you are 100% correct. I see a long, hard road back to fairness and common sense, with many bodies along the way. Thank you for commenting!!
